Kaltern town is located at the foot of the mountain Mendel and lies approximately  15 km southwestern of Bolzano the capital city of South Tyrol. The lake Kalterer See is situated at a distance of 4 km from Kaltern town and lies in the midst of numerous vineyards. The good wines produced in Kaltern and the lake have made the town as famous and as popular as it is today.
