Every year in July the traditional Bike Transalp, a mountainbike stage race for ambitious riders takes place and also stops in Kaltern. 550 "teams of two" participate and cross the magnificent Alps within a week with their bikes.

 

The riders manage a distance of roughly 600 km (385 miles) and a vertical gain of 19.500 m (65.000 ft.) on the most beautiful mountain ranges of Germany, Austria and Italy.
